Anti-estrogens or estrogen blockers are substances that help in blocking the effect of estrogen. Bodybuilders use them for increasing muscle mass, promoting muscle development, and reducing side effects of consuming steroids. Aromatase inhibitors and selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) are two categories of these blockers. The first one works by decreasing creation of these hormones and the latter works by blocking its receptor itself. However, there is nothing to panic about, as these adverse effects are mild in nature and go away with regular dosage. Besides taking these blockers, the level of this hormone is easy to maintain through dietary means as well. Experts recommend a healthy and balanced diet in this regard, which should consist of fruits (red grapes, pomegranates), fresh cruciferous vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli), whole grains (wheat, oats, millet, barley), seeds (sesame, flax, chia), mushrooms, and green tea among others. However, this form of diet does not include meat, dairy products, vegetables, and fruits, since all these eatables contain pesticide residue in high quantity. Hence, it is better to choose either of the two methods – either take these pills or consume a nutritious diet that helps in maintaining ideal level of hormones in the body. While the latter option is better due to the natural ingredients that your diet will contain, there are still many who prefer consuming pills.
